Having attended a workshop in July on the subject of paper marbling – to be written up fully in the November edition of The Folder – I thought this would make a suitable topic for the little books of the Light Bookswap.

I decided to use the paper I had marbled for the book cover and also to show the results of the three different methods practised.  For the lettering narrative I used Fabriano Artistico, and also used this for the inner book cover.  Because of the weight of the paper I was able to keep the lettering to a brief description on the front page of each single fold section.  I then cut the example paper to size and folded that as a double page inside the section.  I decided to use a very simple binding as the paper provides the decoration.

I stitched each section onto the inner book cover using a simple pamphlet stitch.  The knots on the back would be covered by the marbled paper which I lightly glued onto the inside cover.  The stitching of the three example sections was covered as I glued the folded paper to itself so that only the pattern showed.  A simple upper case title slip was glued to the front cover outside.
